AI video editing: a neural network edits your talking-head video for you

AI editing is when a neural network does the routine part of an editor’s job: it listens to the speech, cuts pauses and slips of the tongue, adds word-by-word captions and designs the video around what’s being said. Here’s exactly what happens to your video, where AI handles things on its own, and where it’s better to fix things by hand.

In short
  • Input: your video up to 3 minutes long, with you talking to the camera
  • Output: vertical video, 1080×1920, 30 fps, audio at −14 LUFS
  • What it does: pauses, “um”s, repeats, captions, title, graphics, B-roll, music
  • Where: a bot and an app in Telegram, no software to install
  • Time: usually a few minutes; the video arrives in the chat

What AI editing is — and what it isn’t

“AI for video” can mean two different things. The first — generation: a model creates a video from scratch based on a text description. The second — auto-edit: you already have a recording of yourself talking to the camera, and it needs to become a tight video for the feed. VARIA does the second. We don’t invent visuals for you or swap your face: we take your video and do what takes an editor an hour or an hour and a half.

For talking-head videos — expert tips, tutorials, “here’s what I do for a living” — the editing is almost always the same: cut pauses and slips, caption the speech, put a catchy title on the first seconds, highlight numbers and key words, add quiet music. That kind of repetitive work is exactly what an algorithm does well.

What happens to your video, step by step

  1. Preparation. The video is converted to vertical 1080×1920 at 30 frames per second. If the camera recorded it sideways — we rotate it. iPhone HDR is converted to standard color so the video doesn’t look washed out in the feed.
  2. Speech recognition. A speech recognition model writes down every word along with the moment it was spoken. Russian is the main language; English, Uzbek and Kazakh are recognized too.
  3. Speech cleanup. Using both the text and the audio, it finds pauses, “um”s and “mmm”s, filler words (“well”, “basically”, “I mean”), restarted phrases and off-camera lines like “Action” or “Anything else to add?”. These get cut, while numbers, negations and meaningful words are protected: a “not” won’t disappear, and “third” won’t turn into “second”.
  4. Sound. If the recording is noisy — by a road, in a café — a neural network turns the noise down. Loudness is leveled to the standard level, the one Reels and Shorts videos play at.
  5. Design. Word-by-word captions, a title on the first seconds, big numbers and lists, animated graphics, B-roll that matches what you say, and music that fits the mood of the video — as much as you choose.
  6. Assembly. Everything is rendered into a single 1080p file and sent to your chat with the bot. You can download the video, tweak it and build it again.

What AI does well, and where you’re needed

The neural network handles rhythm with confidence: it finds pauses, “um”s, repeats and slow starts faster and more consistently than a person, because it sees the timing of every word and the volume of every fraction of a second. Captions and loudness come out just as consistently.

It can get things wrong in three places:

How AI editing compares to an editor and doing it yourself

AI editing in VARIA
Time per videoA few minutes of waiting; a couple of taps from you
Freelance editorFrom a few hours to a day, back-and-forth messages, several rounds of revisions
Doing it yourself in a mobile editor30–90 minutes per video: cutting pauses, placing and fixing captions
ConsistencyEvery video in the same style — handy when you post every day
Where AI falls short of a humanStory editing from many scenes, complex effects, matching a reference

Honestly: if you’re making a film, a wedding video or a music video, you need an editor. If you film yourself talking to the camera 3–5 times a week, AI editing covers almost all of the routine.

Which videos work

Videos without speech (nature, dancing, cuts set to music) won’t work: the edit simply has nothing to go on.

Pricing

Auto-edit is paid in packs: 5 edits — $7.05; 10 edits — $13.03; 25 edits — $29.77; 50 edits — $53.69. One edit is one finished video from a clip up to 3 minutes. Your first video can be a trial — with a watermark. Reposts are separate, from $5.98 for 30 reposts; 2 reposts free to start. Packs never expire.

Re-rendering a video you’ve already paid for with different settings is free: you pay for the video, not for every tweak.

FAQ

Does the AI generate video from scratch?

No. VARIA edits your own video: it cuts pauses and adds captions, a title and design. Your face, voice and message stay yours.

Can I fix what the AI did?

Yes. You can correct the caption text and the title before rendering, and open the finished video in the editor right in Telegram to change anything: cut, move things around, change the font and color.

What language should the speech be in?

Editing works best with Russian speech. English, Uzbek and Kazakh are recognized too.

Do I need a computer?

No. Everything works in Telegram on your phone: upload a video, and the finished one arrives in the chat.

How long until the video is ready?

Usually a few minutes: the longer the video, the longer it takes. You can close the app — the video will arrive in the chat.

Does this guarantee views?

No. Editing makes a video tighter and clearer, but the platform decides what to show. No service can guarantee reach.
